| Wines We'd Like To Remember: Bonizio Sangiovese De Maremma | Jul 16, 2007 |
I bought this Bonizio off the recommended aisle in Wegman's, It was very good, lots of flavor, "round" I think they'd call it.
Round (see also Refined)Describes flavours and tactile sensations giving a feeling of completeness with no dominating characteristic. Almost the same as fat, but with more approval.
FatIn the US this term often infers that the wine is lacking in acidity. In other parts of the world the term fat is used to indicate a full, well balanced wine, and is a compliment.
From the Cecchi website:
Sangiovese di Maremma (I.G.T.)It is a strong and consolidated link the one between the Cecchi family and the Maremma area. After about 10 years of studies and investments in order to add value to the territory and to the autochthon vines, with the proud of the technical staff, the Bonizio is the new born.It is a wine produced entirely with Sangiovese grapes and with Maremma signature. This is an area that for its characteristics of soil and climate, it can grants a generous and constant maturation of Sangiovese, that it is acquiring in this way a remarkable personality. With Bonizio, the Cecchi family makes concrete the desire for noble Italian vines to be appreciated for their importance and potential, by an international scene too.Bonizio is produced by a modern vinification that thanks to facilities available in the estate, it exalts the ripe and delightful fruit.Deep and intense colour, it has a complex aroma where it is possible to smell the Mediterranean scrub, ripe cherish in the end. Vinous and charming it has a remarkable note of Sangiovese of the Tuscan coast.Complex and immediate at the palate, it has a fruity note that confirms warmness and big aftertaste. It is wine to be appreciated young, but it has a big potential for ageing
