Some things noted on an afternoon trip to my local used book store:
- Billy Ray Cyrus is heavily represented in the used CD bin. Perhaps you might expect this, but who knew he ever sold so many in the first place?
- My personal expectations regarding bookstore decorum, particularly use of 'the library voice', are not shared uniformly by the populace, especially those whose children bray and have to be repeatedly told to "ask Ganna" about the quantity of books to be purchased. At least the kid wants books instead of Cheetos. Silver linings and all...
- The covers of most action and drama DVD cases are black. The comedies are all white. This holds true at least for the crummy ones that people sell back to used bookstores.
- Books on the topic of Systems Architecture, even ones published as late as 2003, may still have a chapter entitled "Do I need a mainframe?" Send the $14 to my paypal account and I will provide you with the answer.
- Like the teeth of hens, a 75-cent Donald Duck comic is still impossible to find.
- A "quick" trip to Costco is anything but and is a hellish followup to the relaxing bookstore (Ganna and braying child notwithstanding). Just say no.
